City Council Regular Meeting
Meeting Date: 07/23/2019

BACKGROUND
Within the 2018 / 2019 fiscal budget year, Schertz Fire Department was approved to purchase one (1) Brush truck vehicle. This brush truck is in the construction process and expected to arrive in September 2019. Resolution 18-R-140 was approved by Council on October 23, 2018, and included a not to exceed amount of $260,000 for Siddons Martin Emergency Group.  To date, the City has spent approximately $100,000 with Siddons-Martin for equipment, maintenance, and repairs for Fire and EMS. The City will be just under the previously approved not to exceed amount once the construction process is completed on the Brush Truck.
For the remainder of the Fiscal Year, Fleet and the Fire Department anticipates at least $70,000 in additional repairs, equipment, and maintenance.  However, if unexpected repairs are needed the Departments are requesting a not to exceed amount that includes an additional $15,000 to be able to complete unexpected emergency repairs quickly on Fire and EMS Apparatus. The total request is for a not to exceed amount of $345,000 (eg. current repairs ($100K), Brush truck ($160K), anticipated needs ($70K), emergency repairs ($15K)).
